The wine that blew me away was the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau. I think this will probably end up being called “Cuvee Speciale,” which is what Tardieu has done in the past. This 100% Grenache cuvee tips the scales at 16% natural alcohol. Blueberry, black cherry jam, plum, marmalade, hoisin sauce, balsam wood, and licorice all seem to jump from the glass of this inky/purple-colored wine. Remarkably concentrated, dense, and multi-dimensional, it is a sensational Chateauneuf du Pape that should age for at least 20+ years.93-95 Parker

Michel Tardieu’s 2009 red Northern Rhone offerings still have a long wait in barrel before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. They all reveal deep colors as well as abundant concentration, structure and power. I thought the best cuvees were the Cornas, St.-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and Hermitage. The Hermitage and Cornas appear capable of 15 or more years of evolution, and the Crozes-Hermitage and St.-Joseph should last at least a decade. The Cote Rotie Vieilles Vignes exhibited great fruit, but it was not a sensational wine in comparison with the other efforts"91-94 Parker

The 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes comes primarily from two sectors of Chateauneuf du Pape, La Crau and Mont Olivet. It is a dense ruby/purple color, with plenty of garrigue, lavender, black currant, black cherry, sandy, loamy soil notes along with underbrush. A quintessential wine of Provence – full-bodied, powerful, yet at the same time, elegant and very complex – it can be drunk over the next 15+ years."91-93 Parker

We only have the tasting note for the 2009 "Already in bottle, Tardieu’s 2009 Condrieu is sensational. Produced from two of the appellation’s greatest sites, Chanson and Chery, it offers a rare opulence, a full-bodied mouthfeel, abundant crushed rock minerality and terrific purity and length. Although this white wine is aged completely in wood, the wood component is pushed well to the background. This impressive wine should be drunk during its first 2-3 years of life" 94/100 Parker
