95/100 by Bob Campbell in the Gourmrt Traveller Magazine "Nautilus' Awatere Valley vineyard provided most of the grapes for this elegant wine. The grapes were hand- harvested and whole bunch pressed. A small portion ( 15% ) was fermented in old barrels with the remainder kept in tank on the yeast lees for three months. Intense fresh pear and subtle bready yeast yeast flavours with impressive purity and power. An etheral texture, good weight and a lingering finish. This is a textbook example of top Marlborough pinot gris

Normally $27. One of Metro Magazine's 100 Wines for Summer "Dog Point is one of our leading producers of sauvignon and this wine shows why. Intense, pungent, flinty, sweaty aromas proceed to an equally intense palate, which has weight and breadth of flavour. While you can enjoy this concentrated, serious dry wine on its own, it would be a shame not to enjoy it alongside some tasty summer food". With years of experience making the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon blanc, James Healy now makes this label in partnership with Ivan Sutherland ( who was the viticulturist at Cloudy Bay ). These boys know their stuff ." Bob Campbell

The last few vintages of this wine have got silver medal after silver medal - the 2009 had no less than seven - the 2011 has had two already, but now the fine folk at Terrace Heights Estate can hold their heads up high as the 2011 has finally been awarded a well deserved "Excellent" gold medal equivalent at the Marlborough Wine Show recently. And it was one of only three Pinot Gris to be awarded such status. Well done guys.
We have always thought this wine to be deserving of gold medals. It has been a favourite of ours and our customers for quite some time now. Repesenting great value in Pinot Gris it is full of figs, pears, apples and nougat with a fantastic nutmeg spice coming through on the finish. It is rich and weighty yet sits at the drier end of the spectrum. A really nice Pinot Gris.

. Dog Point Vineyard combines the considerable winegrowing experience of Ivan Sutherland and James Healy- both of whom were key factors in the Cloudy Bay quality. Their philosophy is total involvement from the vineyard through the winemaking process to marketing regionally distinctive and vineyard expressive wines. Fruit for their wines is sourced from selected vineyard plantings dating back to the late 1970's.

Chardonnay thats from six clonal selections of Chardonnay that were hand harvested and pressed to barrels for fermentation. All batches were aged on lees for 12 months. 30% wild yeast and partial malo-lactic fermentation.
The bouquet is lemon meringue, fig and white peach, seasoned with restrained oak. On the palate it has an elegant texture retaining juicy acidity. Zesty fruit balanced with nutty and creamy barrel influences.

"Aromatic wine that does show some faintly herbal Sauvignon Blanc character that's nearly blocked out by a strong wet stones/mineral influence and subtle bready, toasty characters from extended barrel maturation on the yeast lees. Oak is more evident on the palate although the wine does have a core of taut fruit and mineral. More weight and richness than I expect from Sauvingon Blanc with layers of subtle flavours that are nicely integrated. This is a very classy wine indeed. It's hard to imagine an oak-aged Sauvignon Blanc getting much better than this."96/100 Bob Campbell
