Great riesling buying from one of N.Z's best. "Typically fine scented, with rich, lemony, often honeyed flavours, this is the country's northernmost fine quality riesling. Grown in Gisborne ( some of the vines are 24 years old , it is gently sweet, in a softer, typically less racy style than the classic Marlborough wines. The grapes are grown organically in the Opou vineyard at Manutuke and are hand-harvested."

Mt Difficulty's single vineyard riesling has a nose of citrus and stonefruit compete with floral notes in the aroma of this Riesling. On the palate these flavours dance in harmony. Residual sugar has been retained to balance the high natural acidity, this residual sugar has also fleshed out the mid palate of the wine. This wine will richly reward those who can cellar it.

One of Metro Magazine's 100 Wines for Summer "Delicate and restrained on the nose, with lemon, honey and flint aromas, the palate is light and restrained. Medium-dry, with a fine acid backbone, this is a pretty, light wine, perfect as an aperitif".

The wine has a sense of "wholeness" - lemon /lime in colour, minerally citrus on the nose softened by pretty lavender powder puff notes, with billowing fruit scudding across the palate - mandarins, limes and oranges. The overall impression is dry, refined and elegant.

"Bright straw-yellow colour with pale green hues on edge, this has a softly fresh and full nose of concentrated, pure lime juices, white stonefruits and acacia florals, with richness and density. Dry to taste, the palate has elevated acidity providing raciness and zesty lime and apple-like flavours on a well-weighted palate with body, presence and concentration. The wine has very fine, smooth textures enlivened by the acidity which carries through to a sustained finish showing pure citrus fruit nuances. This should age well. Fruit from vines averaging 20 y.o. from the ‘Craighall' vineyard fermented to 11.8% alc. with 5 g/L rs. Match this racy, but substantial dry Riesling with seafood, especially shellfish over the next 6-8+ years. 18.0+/20." Raymond Chan- senior wine judge

Unquestionably the estate's greatest vineyard, Erdener Pralat combines perfece exposure, red slate soil and an extraordinarily warm microclimate to produce wines of power and nobility. The vineyard's position between the river and massive cliffs results in exceptional ripeness, making Spatlese and Auslese wines possible in almost every vintage.
"Pale golden yellow. Baked apple, sweet herbs and quince jelly on the nose. Extremely elegant and airy in spite of its density, with pineapple fruit giving way to cinnamon and slate. Fine, spicy finish."91/100 Tanzer

A volcanic rock vineyard where long ago, stone steps were built into this vineyard's steep hillside to help workers reach the vines. The iron-infused, red slate soil produces wines that are muscular and complex, with an intense mineral finish.
