This is the top wine from the directors own vineyards in Langhorne Creek and Limestone Coast. The 2010 has just been released but the 2007 won "International Shiraz Trophy, Australian Red Trophy, Australian Shiraz Trophy and the South Australian Shiraz Trophy at the London International Wine Show which is a massive, massive result considering how many top Australian shiraz's enter this show. "Inky ruby. Tight but pure nose hints at
cassis, violet, vanilla and smoky Indian spices. Pliant, perfumed and seductively sweet, showing sweet dark fruit flavors and conveying an impression of flesh without excess
weight. Focused and energetic but also rich and velvety, finishing with impressive verve and grip."

"This elegant, fresh, fragrant wine has floral, berry and liquorice characters of great aromatic quality, no doubt due in part to the five percent Viognier. It tastes persistent and tangy with a firm tannin backbone. "

Coonawarra enjoys a relatively cool climate and the profile of shiraz from this region differs markedly to shiraz produced from the Barossa. Aromatically, the Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz exhibits more peppery spice than sweet spice, red rather than black fruits and fennel over aniseed. Structurally it is firmer, with pronounced acid and savoury tannins.
This refined wine is renowned for its consistency and reliability as both a current-drinking and cellaring-type red.

96/100 from Halliday "A wine with a proud history and proven development for 20 years or more; it has a deep, rich and full-bodied well of blackcurrant, blackberry and black olive flavours encased in a web of perfectly formed tannins. Drink to 2026." 92+/100 from Parker who writes "The flagship 2006 John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon was the only Wynn wine I was able to taste. Having visited the winery in 2008, it is apparent that serious strides have been made under winemaker Sue Hodder. As for this wine, it spent 22 months in 100% new French oak. It is opaque purple-colored with an alluring perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, violets, black currant, and a hint of mint. This is followed by an elegantly styled wine with a smooth texture, layers of savory red and black fruits, superior depth and grip, nicely concealed, ripe tannins, and a lengthy, pure finish. Give it 4-6 years in the cellar and drink it from 2014 to 2031."

This is the first release of this wine since 1966- a wait of over 40 years and pays tribute to the original 1966 Bin 620, one of Penfolds' greatest wines of the Twentieth Century. Special Bins are a collection of the most exclusive Penfolds wines, sourced from rare parcels of fruit, from only the finest vintages- the ultimate reference for wine lovers and international collectors 'in the know'. Accolades are already flowing, with the 2008 Penfolds Bin 620 earning two trophies in its first competition, The Great Australian Red, last week.
"It's a long time between drinks. It's a sister wine to the Bin 60A, which has been called the finest Australian red of the 20th century," Mr Gago said.
NZ has secured a tiny allocation of this individually boxed and numbered hens teeth wine and we have managed to secure some. Wine due mid December. Book now with payment on delivery.
