Riverby used to be the main supplier of riesling grapes for the beautiful Collards Queen Charlotte Riesling. Now most of the product is exported to Australia where it has a huge following. This wine is from very low yielding vines. "Clean, almost bone dry and nicely austere. Very much a food wine while young, takes a little getting to know but working well, good fruit strength and lots of personality- and with more to offer as time opens up new dimensions." 4 Stars- Winestate

A single-vineyard wine, grown in the heart of the Wairau Valley. ( in fact right next door to Cloudy Bay ) This is a wine that has gained a huge following in Australian restaurants ( its currently listed on some 300 lists ) and hence the majority of the wine is exported. We have convinced Riverby to allocate us a quantity of this wine each year. "A tighty framed sauvignon showing aromas of dried herbs and subtle mineral notes. The palate is juicy and succulent with excellent acidity providing a lovely crisp finish. The high level of concentration and overall balance indicate the wine will evolve gracefully over the next few years."

From 20 year old, low cropped, hand picked vines and cropped at a miserly 6 tonnes per hectre. 100% Mendoza clone, barrel fermented and aged in French oak with regular lees stirring. In other words - the Rolls Royce treatment. "The nose is youthful and fragrant displaying white peach, cream and subtle vanillin oak characters. It's concentrated on the palate with superbly fine texture, well balanced acidity and a beautifully expanding finish. A beautifully crafted Chardonnay with lovely detail and precision.
