2007 Artadi Rioja Vinas de Gain

"Artadi’s 2007 Vinas de Gain is 100% Tempranillo sourced from 40- to 60-year-old vines and aged in 40% new French oak for 12-14 months. A saturated purple color, it delivers an expressive bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, mineral, blueberry, and blackberry. Layered and full-flavored on the palate, it is nicely balanced with the structure to evolve for 4-6 years. Drink it from 2014 to 2027. It is one of the better values in quality Rioja."92/100 Parker

2009 El Seque Alicante

A new winery owned by Artadi This is 80% old vine mourvedre, 10% Syrah and 10% Tempranillo and spends 14 months in French oak. It is from a 40 hectre high altitude vineyard from the Alicante region in Spain. Artardi has revitalised an old vineyard on limestone soils in this up and coming area . Similar in style to wines in Bandol in Provence. While they are big wines in their youth they soften out into almost Burgundian like complexity with age.

2006 Artadi Pagos Viejos Rioja Reserva

Artadi's pinnacle bottling- "The 2006 Pagos Viejos is sourced from Tempranillo vines over 75 years of age and aged for 18 months in new French oak. The wine is inky purple with a sublime nose of pain grille, graphite, black cherry, wild blue fruits, and blackberry. This leads to a dense, plush, remarkably elegant wine which is already exhibiting some complexity. While rich enough to be enjoyed now, it will improve for 5-7 years and be at its best from 2015 to 2030." 94/100 R.Parker "Inky ruby. Spicy red and dark berry aromas are complicated by smoky minerals, anise and fresh rose; smells like a great Barolo. Juicy black raspberry and cherry flavors are impressively deep and pure, taking on weight with air while maintaining focus. This hits every nook and cranny of the palate and betrays no rough edges. Spiciness builds on the finish, which is long, nervy and gently sweet."93/100 Tanzer

2001 Artadi Rioja Grandes Anadas

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $400/bottle)

The prodigious, inky/purple-colored 2001 Grandes Anadas marries elegance with tremendous power and flavor intensity. It represents Spain's version of Comte de Vogue's Musigny ... in a top vintage. Aromas of spice box, violets, raspberries, blackberries, plums, cherries, and an undeniable minerality are found in this structured, ripe, phenomenally intense red. The finish exceeds one minute, yet it gives the impression that it is not close to being mature. While it offers plenty of enjoyment now, ideally it should be given 3-4 years of cellaring and consumed over the following two decades. 98/100 - RP

2004 Artadi Rioja Vina El Pison

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $400/bottle)

The 2004 Vina El Pison is purple/black in color with an ethereal bouquet found only in the greatest wines. Vanilla, spice box, truffle, wild blueberry, black raspberry, and blackberry liqueur are descriptors that come to mind but which cannot really convey the other-worldy nature of this perfume. On the palate, it is opulent, beautifully delineated, elegant and powerful all at the same time. Impeccably balanced and amazingly long, this wine is a pleasure to drink now but will still be providing pleasure 40-50 years from now (with good storage). Kudos to Bodegas Artadi for this tour de force! 100/100 - RP

2009 El Seque Laderas

These vineyards in Alicante are owned by the rioja producer Artadi- who is a meticulous winemaker. "80% monastrell and 10% each of syrah and cabernet sauvignon): Deep, bright ruby. Ripe red berry and cherry aromas show good depth and a hint of jamminess. Fleshy and smooth in texture, offering sweet raspberry and cherry compote flavors and a hint of bitter chocolate. The suave finish features notes of blood orange and candied flowers."90/100 Tanzer
