2006 Artadi Pagos Viejos Rioja Reserva

Artadi's pinnacle bottling- "The 2006 Pagos Viejos is sourced from Tempranillo vines over 75 years of age and aged for 18 months in new French oak. The wine is inky purple with a sublime nose of pain grille, graphite, black cherry, wild blue fruits, and blackberry. This leads to a dense, plush, remarkably elegant wine which is already exhibiting some complexity. 2005 Muga Torre Muga Rioja

"The 2005 Torre Muga is composed of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 10% Graciano. Purple-colored and made in a more international style, it presents a brooding bouquet of pain grille, mineral, scorched earth, incense, and blackberry. Massive on the palate, the wine has tons of material, great density, and 6-8 years of cellaring potential. 2007 Vinos Pinol Portal Crianza

Celler Vinos Pinol was founded in 1945 and today is led by the fourth generation of the family. The estate owns 100 acres in the town of Batea in the Terra Alta DO located just a few miles from Priorat and is a desert like, harsh environment where most of the vines are old bush low yielding types. Powerful, intense and great value are their characteristics. Well worth trying as they drink like $40-$50 wines. "50% garnacha, 20% syrah and 10% each of carinena, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Vivid ruby. Powerfully aromatic, sexy bouquet of raspberry, Asian spices and smoky minerals. Juicy red and dark berry flavors are energized by nervy acidity and framed by supple tannins. 2004 Muga Prado Enea Gran Riserva

This is a classic Gran riserva Rioja and its presented in a beautiful wooden six pack. Released when it is ready to drink ( a big bonus! ) and aged in large oak. A supremely elegant, complex red that has no hard edges. This is how great rioja used to be made. "The 2004 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is not quite as dense as the 2005 but is more expressive on the nose and rounder on the palate. 2007 Muga Riserva Rioja

Our most popular Rioja. "Muga’s red wines begin with the Muga Reserva, a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, with the balance Mazuelo and Graciano. It was aged for 6 months in wooden vats before spending 2 years in 60% new French and American oak. "A complete modern Rioja with cola, cassis and smoky aromas. Excellent mouthfeel and toasty black fruit and licorice flavors work well together, and the finish is refined, warm and peppery. Not an overly lush wine but it is generous and loaded with a bit of everything good: body, tannin, acidity, flavor and complexity." Parker

2005 Roriz Riserva

We only have a tasting note for the 2004 Reserva as the 05 has just been released "It is powerful and focused, intense and gripping, showing fine depth, great fruit, and better structure than the lovely 2003. 2001 Remirez de Ganuza Rioja Gran Reserva

One of the quality leaders in Rioja, Bodegas Fernando Remirez de Ganuza has produced superb wines in the more difficult 2003 vintage and the idyllic 2004 vintage. Both vintages are composed of 85% old-vine Tempranillo, 10% old-vine Graciano, 3% old-vine Garnacha, and 2% other. The wines are estate grown and bottled from 4 parcels with age ranging from 34 to 97 years. The wine is aged for 2 years in French and American oak prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
