2004 La Poderina Brunello di Montalcino

We've managed to hold of some more of the fabulous 2004 vintage- now with 6 yrs bottle age its a gem that will keep age magnificently. "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino presents a remarkable balance of ripe fruit, structure and freshness. Violets, dark cherries, new leather and spices are all woven together in an elegant fabric of notable class. The purity of the fruit is superb and the finish boasts tons of finesse, with silky tannins that frame the close." 93/100 Parker. "Blackberries and black cherries on the nose follow through to a full body, with soft and silky tannins.Long finish." 93/100 Wine Spectator

2005 Produttori Barbaresco Asili

"Good full, medium red. Sexy, vibrant aromas of strawberry, flowers, truffle and minerals. Silky-sweet on entry, then energetic and strong in the middle, boasting lovely stuffing and superb definition. This rather powerful vintage of Asili really projects its fruit on the strong finish, which features serious tannic grip. The Produttori's Asili bottling has been my default purchase here since the late '70s." 92/100 Tanzer "The 2005 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is sweet, sensual and perfumed. Today the wine remains extremely reticent, but the tannins show extraordinary purity and silkiness, suggesting the only thing missing is time. For now the 2005 Asili shows great integrity in its dark red fruit, with notable persistence on the palate and a round, powerful close. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030." 93/100 Parker

2008 Moris Farms Mandriolo

"From the Southern Region of Tuscany-an area known as Morellino di Scansano which gives its name to both a red grape ( a variety of Sangiovese ) and a wine in a distinctly modern, classy but easy-drinking style. The Moris Farms team is made up of first-class players. Andrea Paoletti, who looks after viticulture, and the distinguished oenologist Attilio Pagli, who watches over every phase of vinification. Our last tastings confirmed and reinforced our conviction that some of the most successful wines of the Maremma come from this lovely estate. This success consists not only in weight and concentration, but also notably in personality and style." Italian Wine Guide.

2008 Cornacchia Montepulciano D'Abruzzo

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a type of wine grape as well as a type of red wine made from these same grapes in the Abruzzo region of east-central Italy. It is typically a fruity, dry wine with soft tannins, and as such is often consumed young. This wine should not be confused with Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a Tuscan wine made from Sangiovese and other grapes, but not the Montepulciano variety. The quality of Montepulciano wines produced in Abruzzo has been constantly improving in the last ten years, making Abruzzi, once a backwater in winemaking, one of the most interesting locales in the Italian scene. This is a wine we have been selling for the last seven vintages and its never failed to deliver outstanding value.

2007 Felsina Beradenga Fontalloro

From a single vineyard plot that straddles the chianti classico boundary. This super tuscan has been produced since 1983. The average age of the vines is now over 50 years "Good full red with a palish rim. Pure, superripe aromas of red cherry, violet, iodine and nutmeg. Superrich, highly concentrated and seamless, with densely packed flavors of raspberry, dark plum and marzipan. Finishes creamy-rich and explosively long, with a pretty violet note. This was so good I really had trouble letting the glass go. I'd wait a good five years on this one, then enjoy it for another two decades. Proof positive that sangiovese is one of the world's great grape varieties." 96/100 Tanzer

$89.99

2004 Lamborghini Campoleone

From the famous car family who have spent a small fortune creating one of Italys greatest red wines. A 50/50 blend of sangiovese and merlot. This red comes from a close planted, low yielding vineyard in Umbria.A super Tuscan in style combining a classic Italian varietal with a modern twist. A super sexy red with oddles of plummy, gorgeously silky fruit and a long rich finish. This will satisfy those who love good Italian reds and also those who adore the suave nature of great merlot. "The 2004 Campoleone, the estate’s signature wine, is simply gorgeous. This blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Merlot spent 12 months in French oak. It is a firmly structured wine with superb density on the palate, where layers of tobacco, dark cherries, earthiness, smoke, licorice and toasted oak all come to life. This is a beautifully delineated, focused Campoleone. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2022."92/100 Parker

2007 Farnetella Chianti Colli Sensi

Castello di Farnatella is the second property of Giuseppe Mazzocolin, who is best known for the reference-point wines he produces at Felsina. The Farnatella wines have improved quite a bit since I first started tasting them a few years ago. At their best, the entry-level wines can offer excellent value. "The 2007 Chianti Colli Senesi is a pretty, floral wine with nice freshness to its fruit and an attractive, soft-textured personality. The higher altitude vineyards at Farnatella combined with the increased presence of sand in the vineyards yield perfumed, mid-weight wines. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012." Parker
