Glaetzer Wines, The Barrosa, Australia
"The 2008 Wallace is a blend of 80% Shiraz from 45-130 year old vines and 20% bush vine Grenache from 75 year old vines located in the prime Ebenezer district of Barossa. Yields were a meager 1.5 tons per acre. Dark ruby-colored, it has an alluring bouquet of smoke, violets, incense, black cherry, and blueberry. The wine has a bit of underlying structure, medium to full-body, plenty of sweet fruit, but a slightly compact finish. This pleasure-bent effort is an outstanding value." 90/100 R.Parker
"A touch of grenache (20 per cent) blended with shiraz is almost always a good thing. Especially if the grenache you're using is of high quality. 2008 release: Juicy, dark, full‐bodied and very, very easy to slurp. One of those 'dangerous'
kinds of wine ‐ you just keep wanting another glass. It has flavours of dark cherries and sundry berries, with vanilla, clove‐like touches from oak. Walsh called it 'plump' in the
cuddly and warm sense of the word. Drink: 2010‐2014"

Kalleske, The Barrosa, Australia
A young turk, Troy Kalleske, seems to be obsessed with making a great name for his familys Barossa Valley wines. The Kalleske family owns a whopping 400 acres in Barossa's tenderloin section, the highly renowned Greenock region. This is a certified organic wine from low yielding old gnarled vines. The 2003 scored a 96-100/100 from Parker, the 04 scored a 94/100 and the 2005 scored a 93/100. No reviews yet on the 07 but heres Parkers 05 review ( he hasnt reviewed the 06 yet either ) "Even more impressive the 05 shiraz exhibits greater intensity, and additional roasted meat and gamey characteristics interwoven with pepper, creme de cassis and blackberry liqueur. The 2005 should evolve and drink well for 10-15 years.." Parker
Full on serious Barossa Shiraz that will age magnificently.

Yalumba, The Barrosa, Australia
Normally $40 and with a 94/100 from James Halliday this is a beaut. ( Also Gold and Trophy at the NZ International Wine Show ) He writes ?Bright colour; oak sits atop the blue and black fruit on show, with an element of spice and violets;
truly medium-bodied, with silky texture, and a
slow expansion of flavours from earth, tar, bramble
and redcurrant; long, poised and very fine. Drink to 2018."

Glaetzer Wines, The Barrosa, Australia
"Made by the highly regarded Ben Glaetzer and matured in French oak hogsheads (larger oak barrels than usual). It's been a highly successful brand since its launch a handful of
years ago ‐ and deservedly so. The 2008 release has a robust honesty about it. No tricks, just dark, rich, warm fruit.
Tastes of peppermint, sweet fruit (plums, cherries and raspberries), pipe tobacco, a touch of pepper and a whiff of vanilla. Excellent winter drinking. Will impress all comers. Drink 2010‐2013." 91/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Big Red Wine Book.
Vivid ruby. Dark berries, cherry, woodsmoke and a whiff of black pepper on the nose.Fairly rich and ripe, but with firm acidity giving juiciness and spine to the dark fruit flavors. Not a fleshy wine but quite energetic, finishing with firm, dusty tannins and good cling." 89/100 Tanzer

Ripe, sweet, and layered, this nicely rendered red has exceptional balance and length for its humble price. "

Henrys Drive, Coonawarra & Padthaway, Australia
If you thought their normal cuvee was good wait to you try this stunner. 91/100 "The 2008 Pillar Box Reserve Shiraz spent 8 months in French and American oak. Purple-colored, it delivers an alluring nose of cedar, lavender, pepper, and blueberry. Concentrated and layered on the palate, it has more than ample succulent fruit, good balance, and enough structure to ensure 4-5 years of pleasurable drinking."

Glaetzer Wines, The Barrosa, Australia
Although the backbone of this full bodied, elegant wine is the exceptional fruit from dry grown vines of Ebenezer vineyards in the northern Barossa Valley- the same shiraz fruit used for Amon Ra and Anaperenna- the Bishop has tended to be overshadowed by its more famous sister wines. They have now changed the label to more aptly reflect the commitment to the Bishop and its a superb drop.
"The 2006 Bishop was sourced from 60-year-old vines and aged for 14 months in used French and American oak. Purple/black in color, it has an expressive nose of cedar, smoke, game, bacon, and blueberry. On the palate this medium to full-bodied wine is tightly wound but has all the right stuff. There are tons of ripe fruit and silky tannin, excellent balance and a long finish, but the wine will need 8-10 years to fully display its personality. It will easily last through 2036. Hats off to Ben Glaetzer for producing an extraordinary portfolio!"92-94 Parker

Glaetzer Wines, The Barrosa, Australia
Heartland Cab Sauv 08 Makes "100 Best Aussie Wines of the Year" by Matthew Jukes ( a highly regarded UK Wine Critic ). This is a major achievement for a wine at this price. He writes- "Ben Glaetzer's trademark glossy, but detailed winemaking ensures that this exuberantly fruity wine manages to stay on the right side of self indulgent. With soaring cassis notes, a lick of menthol and posher oak than one would imagine for its workmanlike price point, this is a glorious piece of work and a real treat for fans of both Heartland and also this grape. Decant it for even more pleasure and you could easily convince your pals that this is a twenty pound wine."
"Deep ruby. Expansive, highly perfumed bouquet of blackberry, cherry-vanilla and smoky spices. Dense red and dark fruit flavors are framed by supple tannins that fade away on the back half. This sappy, broad wine boasts impressive structure and finishes with a persistent cherry note. 90/100 tanzer.

Mitolo, The Barrosa, Australia
The 2005 Shiraz Reiver, made from 60-year-old Shiraz vines in the Greenock area of the Barossa, was aged 18 months in lightly toasted French oak. Its inky/blue/purple hue is followed by a lovely perfume of flowers, blackberries, espresso, and licorice. Aged completely in 300 liter hogsheads, it offers stunning richness and length, and should drink well for 10-12 years. 94/100 Parker
