The Wallace is a blend of 75% Shiraz and 20% bush vine Grenache from 60-80 year old vines located in the prime Ebenezer district of Barossa. Yields were a meager 1.5 tons per acre and with their experience of old, Barossa Valley Grenache they know it does not handle oak well. For this reason they ferment and mature the Grenache component in stainless steel to keep the freshness and animation of the fruit. The Shiraz is matured in 2-3 year old oak barrels.
"Deep garnet-purple color and intense blackberry and black raspberry aromas with supporting notes of chocolate,
earth, salami and anise. The palate is well structured with firm fine tannins, high acid and ample flesh, finishing medium-long. Drink it now to 2015." R.Parker. This is one of our most popular Australian reds due to its lush silkiness. Enjoy.

Petit Verdot is a variety of red wine grape, principally used in classic Bordeaux blends. It ripens much later than the other varieties in Bordeaux, often too late, so it fell out of favour in its home region. It has attracted attention among winemakers in the New World, where it ripens more reliably and has been made into single varietal wine. "First release from Water Wheel and its a stunner. Intensity and full on enjoyment. Brilliantly vibrant purple-you could fall in love with the mere look of it. Talk about velvet. Boysenberry, blackberry, blackcurrant fruit and loads and loads of violets. Delicious to the max and very concentrated.Really quite something." 92/100 Campbell Mattinson The big red wine book

"A perennial Best Buy in these pages, the 2008 Pillar Box Red does not disappoint. A blend of 66% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Merlot, it is purple-colored with an enticing nose of cherry blossom, cinnamon, blueberry, and licorice. Ripe and rich for its humble price, it has plenty of savory fruit, good balance, and a seamless, fruit-filled finish." R.Parker

"Ben Glaetzer is the man behind these awesome wines. Every vintage has scored over 95 points or over from Robert Parker- A remarkable track record and one that shows phenomenal consistency of quality. Vineyard yields are a miserly 1 Tonne per Hectare with average vine age 50-130 years old. The key to Amon Ra Shiraz is balancing the extraction, rather than maximising it. The fruit has such expression that we aim to preserve the characteristics of the
vineyard rather than dominate them. "Dark purple with youthful hues on release, the nose is a compelling mix of dark stone fruits, coffee and blackberries. The 2010 is supremely focussed yet rich and rewarding on the palate. The flavours are intense yet restrained, showing brooding
dark fruit characters, with cracked pepper hints, some minerality and great complexity. The astounding purity of expression and multilayered structure wil allow this wine to mature with elegance for decades to come."

5 Stars and taking the top spot on Cuisine's Best Buy list for offering an outstanding combination of quality and price. Also Gold Medal Liquorland Top 100, Gold & Trophy Royal Queensland Wine Show, Gold Medal New Brunswick Wine Show. Not bad for a wine at this price.
"This elegant, fresh, fragrant wine has floral, berry and liquorice characters of great aromatic quality, no doubt due in part to the five percent Viognier. It tastes persistent and tangy with a firm tannin backbone. Try it alongside lamb with Middle Eastern flavours." Cuisine

94/100 from Halliday “Spotlessly clean but complex blackcurrant/blackberry and briar fruit; long palate strengthened and lengthened by tannins on the finish. Fruit, not oak, driven. ”

97/100 from Halliday “A blend of cabernet sauvignon and malbec from Frankland River, a true tribute to the wine style of the late Jack Mann. Dense purple-red, the rich and concentrated bouquet oozes sweet blackcurrant/cassis, the huge, ultra-concentrated fruit of the palate balanced by appropriately firm tannins and lavish oak.”
