2004 Roederer Cristal Vintage Champagne

Normally $450. - 96/100 from Parker. A key event in the success of Roederer was breaking the Russian market, as achieved by the elder Louis Roederer. As a result the blue-blooded Russians found themselves partial to the odd glass of Roederer Champagne, so much so that Tsar Alexander II requested that a special cuvee be created; one fitting to grace the table of a royal family. And so Louis Roederer II produced Cristal, regarded by many as the first prestige cuvee. What made this sweet blend so distinctive was the packaging, being bottled in clear crystal rather than ordinary glass. "The estate's 2004's had been recently disgorged at the time of my visit. An explosion of fruit emerges from the 2004 Cristal, making a strong and very positive first impression. This is a wine of incredible finesse, length and balance that promises to develop beautifully over the next several decades. Today the 2004 comes across as more linear than the 2002. It should fill out nicely in bottle, although my sense is it will always remain a more focused, pointed vintage. The 2004 Cristal is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. " 96/100 R.Parker

$399.00

2004 Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Vintage Champagne

Normally $230. Beautifully presented in a magnificant leaf shaped leather lined gift box .The 2004 vintage of La Grande Dame, the quintessence of the Veuve style, reaches a peak of refinement, without losing its legendary strength produced by a blend including nearly two-thirds of Pinot Noir. This aromatic, impressively complex bouquet is confirmed in the mouth. On the palate, the wine is clear-cut and pure, perfectly balanced with a delightful silky smoothness. La Grande Dame 1998, with its lacelike construction, has a long, lively, and structured finish. This wine has unbelievable ageing potential.

$199.99

2002 Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage Champagne

Normally $105. Nicely aged vintage champagne. 5 Stars in Cuisine "Moet's 2002 Grand Vintage treads a pathway through delicacy and power with wonderful aplomb. This complex Champagne opens with aromas of eggy brioche, apple, meringue and stone fruit that have a spring- like freshness and purity. The sherbetty palate has a lovely dissolving quality with great depth, along with an ultra long appetising finish."

1999 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs

Top Champagne in the over $100 section in Cuisine and listed at $427- $459 in the Cuisine. A major deal on this top class champagne. 95/100 from Parker who writes "The 1999 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is sourced exclusively from Grand Cru villages. A small portion of the wine is aged in barrel. The 1999 is an absolutely delicious Comtes de Champagne that needs to be opened at least an hour or two in advance to show at its finest. Smoke, citrus, mint and flowers are some of the nuances that emerge from this fresh, fragrant Champagne. Deceptively lithe on the palate, the wine blossoms with air as it fills out with endless layers of perfumed fruit. The wine can be enjoyed today, even if it comes across as a touch sweet. With time, that sweetness will develop into the liqueur-like perfume that makes older Comtes de Champagne so irresistibly alluring. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2029.

$270.00

2002 Dom Perignon Vintage Champagne

Normally $275 The 2002 Dom Perignon is at first intensely floral, with perfumed jasmine that dominates the bouquet. With time in the glass the wine gains richness as the flavors turn decidedly riper and almost tropical. Ripe apricots, passion fruit and peaches emerge from this flashy, opulent Dom Perignon. The wine’s volume makes it approachable today, but readers in search of more complexity will want to cellar this for at least a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to drop off.Anticapated maturity 2012-2032. " 96/100 R.Parker Extraordinarily firm, confident, intense nose. Definitely the savoury side of Dom. Nothing remotely sweet or fat - though it's as intense as a Montrachet. Wonderful quality of mousse - surely slightly less bubbly than it has been? More like a Montrachet with a bit of carbon dioxide laced into it than a typical champagne. Broad and long with a hint of orange peel. Great persistence. This already delivers but has such backbone and great acidity and light grip (only noticeable at the very end of the tasting experience) that it surely has a long life ahead of it. Really reaches every hidden cell of the palate. A very assured performance. LVMH at its very best?" 20/20 Jancis Robinson

$216.00

2004 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Champagne

Clicquot's Vintage has a normally RRP of $117. The 2004 has just arrived in the country and we have a huge deal on it. The "biggest" Champagne from Veuve Clicquot, appreciated for its robust structure and outstanding aging potential. "The 2004 blend is 62% Pinot, 8% Pinot Meunier and 30% Chardonnay, from 20 grands or premier cru vineyards. Luminous gold; elegant bubbles; springtime floral fragrances- snowdrops ceding to perfumed tones of lilac and cherry blossom. Lively, taut mouthfeel with touches of imminent evolution. Linear pinot noir; classy distinctive Chardonnay." Michael Edwards- THe World of Fine Wine Magazine.

$93.99

Taittinger NV Brut Champagne Magnum

Taittinger has long been renowned as one of Champagne's highest quality houses. 5 Stars Cuisine. "The Taittinger house makes Champagne of mellow softness, exemplified by this non-vintage blend. A perfect partner for cheesy appertisers, it offers citrus, pastry cream and toasty complexity and an easy, flowing palate with a zippy fresh finish. Very easy to like."
