(from vines of 50 to 95 years of age situated in Epointures, Combe du Dessus and Les Marchais aged in 65% new wood and vinified with 65% of the stems.
"This is also distinctly floral with a very Gevrey-like nose of underbrush, earth and highly-complex red berry fruit that evidences a noticeable animale quality that can also be found on the big-bodied, robust and very rich flavors that possess enough more material than the Vosne plus a bit more length. A very impressive villages."90-92 Burghound

From 70+year vines.
“(vinified with ~75% of the stems). A very ripe nose features nose of plum, cassis and warm earth aromas that lead to rich, full-bodied and very serious big-bodied fl avors that possess excellent midpalate concentration and a sappy, long and mouth coating fi nish. This is an exceptionally good villages.” (89-92) Allen Meadows, Burghound

From pinot noir vines between 50 and 98 years of age, cropped at 23 hectoliters per hectare. Dugat makes big, rich old fashioned ( in the best sense ) styled red burgundies. Old vines, low yields and his immaculate work in the winery and vineyards make these some of the most sort after pinot noirs in the world.

“50- to 100-year-old vines. Very dark. Very deep and dense and intense, freshness on the front palate. Even racy, quite
exciting so long as you like his pretty heavily oaked style. 75% new oak for this. A rather lighter touch.”

“A classic Gevrey nose combines pungent earth and underbrush aromas with cool and pure red berry fruit is nuanced by a touch of cassis that is in keeping with the restrained, textured and concentrated middle weight fl avors that exude an intense minerality, all wrapped in a hugely complex and persistent fi nish. This is one of the fi nest villages wines that I have ever tasted
but note that it is built to go at least 20 years.” (91-94) Allen Meadows, Burghound

Here the nose is more elegant and airier with an almost Chambolle-like aromatic profile. The floral and liqueur of red raspberry fruit notes are refined and pure. There is beautiful precision and intensity to the medium-bodied flavors that brim with an almost pungent minerality on the complex, long and balanced finish. Though this is lacy and indeed delicate, the Gevrey roots express themselves via the sleek but taut muscularity that arrives right on the finish. Impressive juice with plenty of upside potential. 92-94 Burghound

This has made it into bottle exactly as it was from cask and instead of the classic leather and game character of a classic Mazis, the nose displays a distinct floral and rather high-toned dried rose petal notes that lead to rich, incredibly concentrated, unbelievably complex flavors and a finish that literally lasts for minutes. I had to ask for a short pause before moving on to the Chambertin as this is a compelling, indeed even imposing wine. In short, this is an altogether stunning combination of power, volume, refinement and muscle. 95/100 - Burghound

Extremely ripe and earthy with lovely animale notes that give way to supple and very rich, sappy and palate staining flavors. This is a serious, somber and intense wine that delivers an explosive, almost painfully powerful finish. This is genuinely an incredible wine that has plenty of buffering fat yet the structure to last for 2 decades. A great effort. 92-95/100 - Burghound

The first wine to display a hint of wood spice that frames explosive notes of cherries, raspberries, earth, game and an interesting smoky character introduces dense, sappy, mouth coating and palate staining flavors that are considerably finer than either the Charmes or the Mazoyeres and possess genuinely stunning complexity. This is a classy, beautifully precise effort of real style and harmony and I like the subtle floral note that arrives on the backend. In a word, breathtaking. 92-95/100 - Burghound
