2010 Faiveley Clos Vougeot

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “This is unusually elegant in 2010 with its refi ned nose of raspberry and earth though there are background notes of grilled meat and smoke. The supple, mouth coating and utterly delicious broad-shouldered fl avors possess a silky texture yet there is plenty of power and punch to the very fi rmly structured fi nish. While there is a certain delicacy present, this will still need all of 15 years to realize its full potential.” 92-95/100 - Burghound “(just 20 hectoliters per hectare produced): Good deep red. Very pure, complex nose melds black cherry, minerals, black pepper, wild herbs and an earthy nuance. Large-scaled, sweet and rich, with a strong mineral underpinning to the fl avors of black cherry and spices. A very powerful and impressive Clos Vougeot with outstanding persistence. The crop-limiting effect of the December frost has produced a wine with stunning concentration.” 93/100 - Stephen Tanzer

2010 Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Beze

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “A highly spiced nose features notes of cool red currant, plum, violets and wet stone along with ample amounts of pungent Gevrey style earth. There is impressive richness and size to the powerful and wellconcentrated large-scaled fl avors that are underpinned by buried tannins before culminating in a huge fi nish that is also monumentally proportioned. This built-to-age beauty will also require a considerable amount of patience as it should see its 50th birthday without undue effort.” 94-97/100 - Burghound “Good bright full red. Sensational nose features all the Burgundy food groups: raspberry, minerals, fl owers, game, spices. Pure silk on the palate, with a wonderfully fi ne-grained texture given lift and razor-sharp defi nition by sappy acidity and a piquant element of white pepper. Offers a rare combination of density and delineation and fi nishes with outstanding building length and great fi nesse.” 94/100 - Stephen Tanzer

$360.00

2010 Faiveley Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “A very deeply pitched nose that displays fresh red and dark berry fruit and fl oral aromas along with notes of the sauvage that continue over to the serious and very solidly structured big-bodied fl avors. This is an impressively scaled wine yet the supporting tannins are relatively fi ne though quite dense and as such, the overall impression is one of robust power even if it is refi ned in its delivery. This is going to require a long cellar stay but it should be magnifi cent when it fi nally emerges.” 93-96/100 - Burghound

$270.00

2010 Faiveley Latricieres Chambertin

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “This offers up a completely different aromatic profi le than that of the Mazis with its extremely cool, restrained and ultra-elegant nose of a broad range of wild red berry fruits, stone, fl oral notes and spice hints. There is exceptionally good purity and transparency to the intensely mineral-infl ected middle weight fl avors that evidence ample power on the impeccably well-balanced and linear fi nish. This is a really lovely effort that embodies that ineffable quality of power without weight.” 93-95/100 - Burghound “Good bright red. Noble, airy aromas of piquant pomegranate, smoky minerality, white pepper and leather. Densely packed and folded in on itself; like a black hole in the mouth. Great verve and energy to the saline and crushed stone fl avors. Uncoils slowly with aeration, with the fi nish displaying almost painful intensity and terrifi c mounting fl oral length. A great soil-driven Latricieres in the making.” 93/100 - Stephen Tanzer

$240.00

2010 Faiveley Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru 'Combe Aux Moines'

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “Similar to the nose of the Combe d’Orveau, this is gorgeously complex though the components of it are notably different as here there is more emphasis on earth and a sauvage character to the exceptionally fresh and airy yet deeply pitched aromas. The rich, intense and palate saturating fl avors possess excellent volume yet fi ne detail as well as a driving minerality that is buffered by an abundance of dry extract that imparts a seductive character to the hugely long fi nish. This is a classic Combe Aux Moines that is perhaps slightly less youthfully austere than usual at this early stage. In a word, terrifi c.” 91-94/100 - Burghound “Good bright red. Very ripe but reticent aromas of cherry, earth, smoke, coffee and licorice. Very sweet and silky in the mouth, but with lovely lift to the raspberry and sweet oak fl avors. Ultimately tight and juicy wine, more mineral than animal in style. The fi rm, youthfully closed fi nish shows a lot of wood tannins.” 89/100 - Stephen Tanzer

$95.00

2010 Faiveley Nuits 1er Cru 'Les St Georges'

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “As is generally the case chez Faiveley, this is the most complex and most elegant of their ranges of Nuits 1ers with its wonderfully layered red berry fruit nose that enjoys added breadth from the underbrush, earth and subtle spice nuances. There is an admirable and seductive richness to the mouth coating, intense and altogether serious fl avors that possess a fi rm but sophisticated texture, all wrapped in a beautifully balanced fi nish. This should amply reward at least 15 years of cellar time.” 92-94/100 - Burghound “Good bright, full red. Knockout noble nose combines raspberry, blackberry, blood orange, mocha, white pepper, coriander and smoky oak. Wonderfully silky but youthfully imploded, with compelling verve and sharp defi nition to the urgent fruit and fl oral fl avors. A wine of outstanding purity and cut, and very long and precise on the aftertaste. Hervet referred to this wine as “the king of the cellar in 2010.” 93/100 - Stephen Tanzer

$150.00

2010 Faiveley Gevrey Chambertin Cazetieres

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “A brilliantly layered nose of impressive depth and breadth speaks of similar aromas as the Combe Aux Moines though this is more Gevrey in character. This is a powerful wine with plenty of mid-palate concentration to the amazingly rich, intense and tautly muscular fl avors that culminate in a mouth coating, balanced and astonishingly long fi nish. A classic Cazetiers with everything that it needs to reward 15+ years of cellar time.” 92-94/100 - Burghound “Good deep red. Lovely lift to the aromas of cherry and rose petal. Sweet, suave and juicy, with terrifi c defi nition and class to the bright fl avors of cherry, minerals, fl owers and spices. Silky and stylish. Mounts impressively on the very long fi nish, which features suave tannins and captivating lingering perfume.” 92/100 - Stephen Tanzer

$110.00

2010 Faiveley Corton Clos de Corton

en primeur price(all up final landed cost)arrives june/july “A brooding, deep and introverted nose grudgingly gives up notes of cassis, earth, wood and a hint of animale. The intense, brawny and imposingly structured fl avors possess superb volume and almost breathtaking power on the explosive and mouth coating fi nish that is of monumental proportions. This is a classic Corton yet consistent with the style of the 2010 vintage, this is not unduly rustic, indeed the tannins, while fi rm, are actually relatively refi ned. A knock out by any standard but at the same time, a wine for the genuinely patient.” 94-96/100 - Burghound “Deep red with ruby tones. Sappy, perfumed nose offers cherry, white pepper, crushed stone, mint and menthol. Wonderfully velvety in the mouth, but with superb energy and defi nition to the pungent mineral and fresh raspberry fl avors. Boasts a three-dimensional texture and great sweetness. Peppery acidity and uncanny soil complexity stain the palate on the fi nish, which features outstanding fi nesse of tannins. A worthy successor to the great 2009.” 94/100 - Stephen Tanzer
