Proprietor Manuel Marchetti describes 2006 as a warm year without too many challenges. The Nebbiolo harvest took place in mid-October. The wines were fermented in cement for 45 days and subsequently spent two years in oak prior to being bottled without clarification or filtration. Marchetti’s 2006s show lovely balance and deliver exceptional quality for the money. "The 2006 Barolo Brunate blossoms on the palate with layers of dark fruit, menthol, spices and minerals, all of which come together with a classic, ethereal weight that is quite appealing. The tannins are formidable, but there is more than enough richness and depth in the fruit to provide balance. The finish is surprisingly round and harmonious at this stage but I expect the wine to close down on itself over the coming months. Marcarini’s 2006 Barolo Brunate is simply terrific. Proprietor Manuel Marchetti says that his plot in Brunate sees wider temperature fluctuations than his vineyard in La Serra, which in large part accounts for the differences between his two Barolos. Drink to 2026." 93/100 Parker

The 2006 Barolo Cannubi presents a more delicate expression of Nebbiolo than the decidedly virile Costa Grimaldi. As it sits in the glass the wine displays wonderful inner perfume, with pretty suggestions of menthol, red berries and spices, all buttressed by silky tannins. Sweet, sensual and enveloping all the way, the Cannubi exudes poise, harmony and sheer class. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. 93/100 parker
Over the last few years Einaudi has settled into an approach that successfully combines elements of modern and traditional approaches. In 2006 the Nebbiolo harvest took place during the first half of October. The Barolos were fermented in stainless steel, and aged first in French oak and subsequently in larger, neutral casks. Einaudi is among the properties in Piedmont moving in a direction that increasingly favors large oak over small French oak barrels.

The name of this estate is derived from the name of its founder, Cesare Pio, who set up this now long established family business in 1881. It remains in the family, with Pio Boffa, the great grandson of the founder, at the helm. The overall ethos is one of minimal intervention. They own almost 45 ha of vineyards, a large holding for the region which is dominated by small family firms owning small plots of land. This barolo is from a family-owned site near Serralunga d’Alba. Just released after 4 years of ageing
"Pio Cesare and the 2007 vintage marry beautifully to produce a layered, opulent, textured, rich wine that is bursting with zesty red fruit, sassy spice, leather and toasted
espresso bean. What really sets this wine apart is the
dense smoothness of its texture."95/100 Wine Enthusiast

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $200/bottle)
The 2000 is characteristic of the vintage, with a huge nose of over-ripe, almost stewed fruits. It is richer, rounder and softer than either the 1999 or 2001, displaying generous amounts of sweet, dark fruit with a lingering balsamic note on the finish. This doesn't quite have the freshness or complexity of the very best vintages, but it will offer irresistible drinking today and for at least another 15 years. 93 points/drink now

Wine Arrives April- Book now
"The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello comes across as cool, inward and reticent. In other words, very Ovello. It is one of the most complete of these 2007s, as the freshness of the site works to counter some of the more extroverted qualities of the year. The Ovello possesses stunning depth in its fruit, expressive inner perfume and firm yet refined tannins that provide the backdrop for all of the elements to come together beautifully in the glass. The Ovello seems to combine the best qualities of the Montestefano and Montefico. The huge, building finish provides a glimpse as to what awaits those who can exercise a measure of patience. This is a stunning Barbaresco on all counts. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032" 95/100 Parker.
“Ovello is one of the oldest crus in the lineup from the Produttori, having first been produced in the
1970 vintage, which was the second vintage in which the cooperative made single cru bottlings (after the
inaugural releases in the 1967 vintage). It is generally one of the most forward of the nine crus made by the
Produttori, and is a classic Barbaresco of ripe red and black cherry fruit at maturity, coupled with autumnal
notes, scents of road tar, curry-like spice tones and often a distinctly floral topnote. Like all of the cru
bottlings from the Produttori, the Ovello is an extremely ageworthy wine that will usually drink better at age
twenty than it will be at age ten, despite its often quite precocious and plump fruit component that makes
the wine accessible much earlier than when it peaks.” - John Gilman,View From The Cellar

Wine due April- Book now. Produttori del Barbaresco is at the forefront of the Barbaresco producers and one of the best value wines we tasted on our recent visit to Piedmont. They have just built a new state of the art gravity fed winery and they offer exceptional value for money. Produced from the king of grape varieties- Nebbiolo. The 2007 Barbaresco offers up generous dark red fruit in an unusually flashy style for this wine. "There is wonderful up-front richness As it stands, the 2007 Barbaresco comes across as open, accessible and ready to provide considerable pleasure." 90/100 Parker. The last time we landed this wine it sold at $70!

SOLD AS 6 BOTTLE ORIGINAL WINE CASE (equivalent to $550/bottle)
A virtually perfect effort is the 1997 Sperss (30,000 bottles), which represents the essence of truffles, earth, and black cherries in its striking aromatics and multidimensional, opulent, full-bodied palate. The acidity seems low because of the huge glycerin levels and prodigious concentration of fruit, but I suspect it is normal in the scheme of oenological measurement. This profound wine requires 3-4 years of cellaring, and should age well for 30-35 years. 99/100 - RP

"The estate’s 2006 Barolo Ornato expresses the power and masculinity of Serralunga in a rich, opulent style packed with dark fruit. The Ornato shows marvelous concentration and vibrancy, with added layers of dimension from the French oak. It is a fascinating wine to contrast with the straight Barolo, as each of these 2006s reveals a different shade of nuance. There is a marvelous intensity to the fruit, along with substantial grip on the finish. Menthol, tar and smoke are some of the notes that remain on the close. The Ornato is aged in a mix of 70% cask and 30% French oak barrique. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. "94/100 Parker

"The estate's 2004 Barolo Le Coste/Mosconi is a big, fat wine loaded with scorched earth, tar, smoke and dark fruit. Made in a powerful, brooding style, this expansive fruit-driven Barolo isn't the last word on subtlety but it is awfully hard to resist. Parusso owns the vineyards in Le Coste and rents three parcels in Mosconi. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. "92/100 Parker

"The 2007 Barolo Mosconi offers up layers of dark fruit, espresso, licorice, new leather and French oak in an explosive style typical of this south-facing site. Here, too, the integration of the oak is superb. The Mosconi shows plenty of freshness and should drink well for at least another decade. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027."93/100 Parker
