Trophy for 'Best Syrah' at the Air NZ Wine Awards.39 entries in this category Bilancia is a small Hawkes' Bay producer of exceptional Pinot Gris, Viognier and Syrah. It is the label of winemakers Lorraine Leheny and Warren Gibson ( who is chief winemaker at Trinity Hill ) and was established in 1997 when Lorraine and Warren returned to New Zealand from winemaking overseas. "Voluptuous, supple and fleshy with pristine blue/blackberry, dark plum and floral perfume. The palate is superbly ripe while remaining impeccably balanced with silky tannins." Air NZ Wine Judges Comments.

A top class Pinot Gris made by Warren Gibson ( winemaker at Trinity Hill ) . Normally $28. "The 2010 vintage was grown at Haumoana, hand- picked and barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts. Full-bodied, it has fresh pear and spice flavours, a siliver of sweetness and some complexity." 4 1/2 stars M.Cooper
