Normally $39. 90/100 from Robert Parkers Wine Advocate who writes "Naturally fermented and aged in barrels, 20% new, on lees for 12 months, the 2009 Chardonnay underwent 100% malo-lactic fermentation and regular lees stirring before bottling. It gives pronounced honeyed toast aromas over notes of warm apricots, apple pie filling and toasted almonds. Medium bodied with a pleasantly creamy texture, it has medium acidity enlivening the opulent, ripe flavors, finishing long with lingering honey-nut notes. Drink it now to 2016+."

94+/100 from Parkers Wine Advocate "The 2009 Mate’s Vineyard Chardonnay has a beautifully expressive and complex nose already, with notes of ripe apples, white peaches, butterscotch and pineapple over savory undertones of croissant, crushed nuts and yeast extract plus a whiff of struck match and wet pebbles. Medium bodied with a beautiful satiny quality to the texture, the fruit remains a bit tight though very concentrated with crisp acid to enliven and a long layered finish. Consider drinking it 2013 to 2019+."

We have a very limited amount of this stunning wine which is only made in special vintages from a single steep sided, hillside vineyard under biodynamic practices. The vine age is now approaching 20 years old. It is one of only eight NZ Chardonnays that Michael Copper rates as his 'Super Classic" ( alongside Ata Rangi,Clearview Reserve, Kumeu River Estate and Mates, Neudorf Moutere, Sacred Hill Riflemans and Te Mata Elston )

This is one of our favourite and most popular quality chardonnays we've ever sold. From vines planted in 1993 and the key to this quality is a unique vineyard site. Blacks vineyards are located on a limestone subsoil in Waipara ( on which many great French vineyards are situated- Chablis, and Burgundy ). Limestone not only controls yields but imparts into the wines complex, minerally characters that add an extra dimension to the overt fruit characters of most N.Z wines. 18/20 from Raymond Chan ( senior wine judge ) who writes " Bright, full, light golden, straw-yellow colour, this has a bold and broad nose of ripe, yellow stonefruits, melons, and mealy nuanced fruit with good nutty, toasty oak. This is a full-bodied, open and accessible wine with brassy, ripe peach and citrus fruit flavours and equally expressed nutty oak backing. There is plenty of power and depth, and along with the acidity, the wine has the structure to keep well over the next 4-5 years, offering enjoyment all that time. Match with firm flesh fish, rich poultry and roasted pork."Also 90/100 from Bob Campbell who writes "Rich and creamy Chardonnay with a mix of peach/nectarine and citrus plus nut, mealy savoury characters. Intense and complex Chardonnay with power."

Warm, vinous aromas of white peach and pear with a tang of lemon curd and a hint of musk; the wine has a fleshy mouth-feel, the hint of creaminess adding subtle complexity. A glass of Gisborne Sunshine!

Normally $35."Overshadowed by its famous stablemate ( Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay ), this regional blend is a fne Chardonnay in its own right. Grown at Upper Moutere ( mostly ), but also at Kina, on the coast, and at Brightwater on the Waimea Plains, it is fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak casks, and given a full, softeneing malolatic fermentation. The 2010 is rich and very vibrant. Youthful, with a distinct hint of butterscotch it is a crisp, peachy and slightly spicy, with finely balanced oak, good acid drive and invitingly fragrant bouquet. 4 ½ Stars M.Cooper"

Neudorf is one of New Zealand's top wineries..wines suffused with minerality and nervosite " Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
“I cannot think of another New Zealand wine producer that has been making top wines across their entire range as consistently as Neudorf over three decades. Chardonnay is the star with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc very close behind.” – Bob Campbell MW
A wine with a serious reputation which of course increases the pressure on the vineyard and winery team. Once again the Moutere vineyard has delivered the goods.
