This has just won Trophy for "Wine of the Show', Trophy for "Best Shiraz" and Gold Medal at the Shanghai International Wine Challenge. Again a very serious show for producers as this is a gateway to the lucrative Chinese market iMoppa Shiraz is named after the small district of Moppa, just North of Greenock, where the Kalleske farm and vineyard was established in 1853. Sourced entirely from their own old vine organic Moppa vineyard, a trace of Viognier and Petit Verdot has been added to this Shiraz giving it a contemporary edge. It is dark red-purple in colour with aromas of perfume, chocolate, dried herb and a touch of pepper spice. The palate is stylish and juicy with supple but solid tannins adding good structure and pleasing chewiness to the wine. Complex, layered and lengthy, this discerning wine can be enjoyed now but will also cellar well.
