2009 Schoffit Old Vines Pinot Gris
|
|
"“They’re all vieilles vignes,” remarks Schoffit of his Pinot Gris vines in and around Colmar by way of introducing a 2009 Pinot Gris Vieilles Vignes that he so-labeled as a means of distinguishing a stylistically distinct cuvee in which 15 grams of noticeable residual sugar were left behind. (For a long time – up until five or six years ago – the sole generic Pinot Gris at this address typically harbored at least this much residual sugar.) Ripe peach, musk melon, and almond extract dominate the nose and glycerin-rich yet buoyant palate, with peach kernel piquancy offering attractive counterpoint and brown spices complementing the wine’s subtle sweetness, which in turn supports the generous peach fruit in a luscious and juicy finish. Enjoy this over the next 3-5 years." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
