Superb Chianti buying because this estate is in the Chianti sub zone of Colli Senssi that is owned by Felsina. Because they don't have the classico designation the wines offer great value drinking as the area is not well known. ( Even though the vineyard is across the road from its $40.00 chianti classico brother! )."Castello di Farnatella is the second property of Giuseppe Mazzocolin, who is best known for the reference-point wines he produces at Felsina. The Farnatella wines have improved quite a bit since I first started tasting them a few years ago. At their best, the entry-level wines can offer excellent value.
The 2007 Chianti Colli Senesi is a pretty, floral wine with nice freshness to its fruit and an attractive, soft-textured personality. The higher altitude vineyards at Farnatella combined with the increased presence of sand in the vineyards yield perfumed, mid-weight wines. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012." Parker
