Elsewhere this sells at $33. A terrific track record for this wine from Gimblett Gravels fruit and made by Tony Bish at Sacred Hill. "Fruit from 10 y.o. vines, the wine fully barrel-fermented to 13.75% alc., the wine was aged 12 months in 30% new oak, with 50% Malolatic Fermentation. Brilliant straw-yellow colour with lemon-gold hues and a pale edge. This has a full, powerful and bold nose of ripe citrus and melon-like fruit with mealy, nutty notes and sweet oak vanillins in an oxidative style. Dry, full, solid and densely presented, this has full flavours of ripe citrus fruits, mealy-nutty oxidative elements, with savoury toasty oak. The palate is warm and firmly constructed, and good acidity carries the complex, nutty, citrus amalgam to a sustained finish, with soft, mellow nuances. Match this robust and traditional Chardonnay with hearty poultry and pork dishes and with hard cheeses. 17.5/20.' Raymond Chan- senior wine judge. Top end chardie at great money.
